Why Amboseli National Park?

Amboseli National Park is where you want to go to enjoy excellent game viewing & enjoy postcard-perfect views of the iconic Mount Killimanjaro.

Experience In fact, this is the best place to witness Mount Kili’s snow-capped peaks rising almost 6 vertical kilometers above the savanna – a truly breathtaking sight to behold. The best time to photograph the mountain is at dawn & sunset when the clouds lift & the light is clear & soft.

Amboseli National Park is home to a variety of wildlife, including lion, elephant, leopard, cheetah, buffalo, giraffe & spotted hyena. Bird watchers will be happy to know that they can spot over 300 bird species here.

Amboseli is located about 200km south-east of Nairobi & can be accessed by road or by air. The highlights of the Northern Tanzanian circuit – the Serengeti, Tarangire & the Ngorongoro Crater – are easily accessible from this region.

Activities The focus at Amboseli is on open 4x4 game drives & walking safaris with Maasai warriors.

Game drives will take guests right into the middle of the action & ensure close-up encounters with Africa’s wildlife. Guests can experience both morning & afternoon game drives led by expert local guides.

Some lodges also offer night drives with spotlight, focusing on the more elusive nocturnal animals. Bird watching is also a wonderful pastime for guests who enjoy the smaller things in life.

Day trips to the nearby Tsavo & Chyulu Hills are also offered.

When To Travel The best time for wildlife viewing is between in the dry season between June & October since the grass is shorter, which makes it easier to spot wildlife. During this time animals congregate around the few water sources & days are mostly sunny with little to no rain.

Green season is between November & May when the short rains peak in November & the long rains in April & May. Scenically, this is the best time for photography & bird watching & since skies are clear of dust, guests can enjoy the best views of Mount Kilimanjaro.
