When to travel

Chimpanzee tracking is possible year-round in Mahale Mountains National Park. For improved chances of encounters, consider visiting towards the end of the Dry season, spanning from July to October. During this period, the chimps tend to favor the lower slopes. With 2 or 3 days at your disposal, the opportunity to witness these remarkable creatures is reasonable throughout the year.
